Vegas Style Marriage, Lady Liberty, and Faux Woodstock

In Art Consortium, Truths on August 8, 2009 at 12:47 pm

It was a big month for the Truthist…I got pretend married to a long-time kindred soul–Vegas Style–and the Wall Street Journal was there to document the whole shebang.

I also braved the mud in Jersey City’s Liberty State Park for three days straight with a few extraordinarily mighty soldiers.

9 portraits + write-up were published in A.V. New York!

Spending three days trekking through an all-too-vivid reimagining of Tim O’Brien’s shit-field passage from The Things They Carried isn’t the way most festival-goers envisioned their All Points West (aherm, Wet) Festival experience. Some came to New Jersey’s Liberty State Park equipped with Hunter rain boots for a romantic, rainy set by The National; others gave up on footwear (and outerwear) entirely to make it to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs apocalyptic sundown performance. The second day quickly turned into hardcore fan night as swarms teemed to see My Bloody Valentine and Tool back to back. One thing was certain after seeing Coldplay on day 3: while it was no Woodstock, rainy UK festivals have nothing on New Yorkers and Jerseyans.

Note: the New York edition of The Onion A.V. Club has shuttered, and no longer hosts this article.

Remembering Michael Jackson: Pitchfork Festival 2009

In Art Consortium on August 2, 2009 at 11:45 am

Dear readers,

That was a half-truth. While this year’s Pitchfork Festival did not officially commemorate our beloved MJ, it was overflowing with babies–which probably would have made him happy. Check out my official Yahoo! Music’s Top Ten Moments of the Pitchfork festival here.

If you want to see a pretty flash gallery, check out more sweet shots at my buddy’s Rawkblog.
